  1. Microsoft Word version 6.0 for Windows Supplemental File  
  2. Conversion Disks include a Setup program that automatically  
  3. installs all or selected text converters, graphic filters,  
  4. and MS-DOS Glossary files. For downloading purposes, each  
  5. text converter, graphic filter, and all MS-DOS glossary  
  6. files have been placed in individual self-extracting  
  7. executable files that do not include Setup. To use the text  
  8. converter you downloaded:  
  9.   
  10. 1. Copy the self-extracting executable converter file to the 
  11.    Word program directory (usually C:\WINWORD).  
  12.   
  13. 2. Change to the Word program directory by typing  
  14.   
  15.       CD C:\directory  
  16.   
  17.    (where directory is the path to your WINWORD program 
  18.    directory) and pressing Enter.  
  19.   
  20. 3. Decompress the text converter by typing the self- 
  21.    extracting filename. For example, the Word 1.x for
  22.    Windows converter self extracting filename is WWIN.EXE.
  23.    Type:

  25.       WWIN1
  26.  
  27.    and press Enter.   
  28.   
  29.    OPTIONAL: Once you have successfully run WWIN1.EXE, you
  30.    can remove the file by typing  
  31.   
  32.       DEL WWIN1.EXE  
  33.   
  34.    and pressing Enter.  
  35.   
  36. In most cases, Word automatically installs the appropriate  
  37. converter the first time you use Word to open a file created  
  38. in another application. Word installs the converter by  
  39. adding information to the [MSWord Text Converters] section  
  40. of your WINWORD6.INI file.  
  41.   
  42. If you want to save a Word document in another format but do  
  43. not have a document in that format that you can open, do the  
  44. following to add information to the [MSWord Text Converters]  
  45. section of your WINWORD6.INI file.  
  46.   
  47. 1. From the File menu, choose Open (ALT, F, O).  
  48.   
  49. 2. Check the Confirm Conversions option.  
  50.   
  51. 3. In the File Name box, type:  
  52.   
  53.       C:\directory\SETUP\SETUP.EXE  
  54.   
  55.    where directory is the name of your Word program 
  56.    directory (usually C:\WINWORD).  
  57.   
  58. 4. Choose OK. Word automatically searches for and installs 
  59.    all new text converters.  
  60.   
  61. 5. Choose the Cancel button in the Convert File dialog box.  
  62.
